it’s not necessarily the price you purchased it for, but the thought you purchased it with. The main strategy- make it look to HER like you’re different and thoughtful AND delay/defuse the situation until you have time to actually do something nice for girlfriend. Without further ado, here we go…
A gift card
what you do is you get the gift card, like $50 or $75 then ON THE GIFT CARD write something like, “FOR BIKINI USE ONLY” (or Ski Jacket or whatever). Then tell her you want to take her to the beach when things “are less hectic” and you want her to have the gear she likes. AND you’re not stupid enough to try to buy her a swimsuit.
Bottle of wine
Who doesn’t love a nice bottle of wine? And it doesn’t usually cost you an arm and a leg.
Books
books are great because you can get a current bestselling paperback for under $20. Ofcourse, make sure the person you’re planning to gift this to loves to read.
Candles
Candlelight is just so soothing and romantic! All women love candles . They’re pretty and inexpensive!
Homemade baked goodies
this one is inexpensive and guarantees a smile out of whoever you give it to especially if the household has kids. I know I would love to receive homemade baked goodies! Including the ingredients, a cute basket and some kitchen accessories, I don’t think this should cost you more than $15-$20.
A heart locket. Those are cute, and you can find inexpensive ones if you shop around.

Find a coffetable “book” with lots of pictures, that has a lot of pictures in common with the both of you. Put together a photo album of places and such.
