well it depends, if you have a bunch of money that you can spend you might want to take her out for dinner and maybe give her you know like earings, bracelets, all those things that girls like. If you want something nice and simple I suggest a teddy bear with the traditional “i love you” heart with some chocolates or something.
I like to do things out of the ordinary, so last year for our one year anniversary I treated my fiance to a fun day. We stayed at a fun hotel, had room service, walked around down town, went to the aquarium and farmers market and then to a movie and lastly, we shot off about 150 fireworks. I saved for a long time to make it memorable. This year is his turn to plan and I know its going to be worth it because he had so much fun last year.

first of all, whatever you decide, flowers need to accompany it. second, do something personal. my favorite gift from my boyfriend [not a big anniversary gift, though] were these little egg shaped candles with birds etched into the side of the porcelain holders.
